St Mary & St Margaret - Castle Bromwich Parish Church

Our historic church organ

The Launch of the Appeal

The appeal was launched on Sunday 14th October 2018 when a packed church listened as church organist Martin Bates explained how much of the history of the organ had only recently been discovered, taking its installation to the beginning of the 19th century. It also turns out that this is one of only a few church organs that is still operated pneumatically.

Martin then demonstrated what our old organ is still capable of by playing Pachelbel's 'Canon in D' and 'Purcell's Trumpet Voluntary' by Jeremiah Clarke.

We were delighted to welcome our local elected representatives to this opening event: Mayor of Solihull Flo Nash, our local MP Dame Caroline Spelman, Chair of Castle Bromwich Parish Council Councillor Alison Haywood and Solihull Councillor Ted Richards.

And hear him play it!)

Now to the business of raising almost £80,000!
